MSSP

MSSP (Managed Security Service Provider) is a third-party service provider or supplier who offers computer security services to a client company on a subscription basis. Among its services is mainly:

  • the monitoring of events and the management of the client’s security systems,
  • the response to security incidents and the implementation of best security practices.

MSSPs typically offer a range of services that can be tailored to an organization’s specific needs. They can help companies reduce the burden of managing their own security infrastructure and allow them to focus on their business objectives.

What is the difference between an MSSP, MSP and MDR?

Long before the arrival of MSSPs, we were back in the managed services market with MSPs. They had a much broader field of intervention, taking IT into account. They took care of network management, hardware and software support and offered cloud computing services.

As for MDR (Managed Detection and Response), their service involves continuous monitoring of an organization’s networks and information systems to detect computer threats.
To conduct their operations, MDR vendors use specialized tools and techniques to detect and respond to potential threats in real time. This helps them prevent security breaches and minimize the impact of any that do occur. MDR services may be provided by MSSPs or other specialized managed service companies.
